This is Neta and me in Taman Menteng. Last Sunday we visited Menteng’s three parks. In the first we relaxed amongst the art and listened to the hundreds of violinists gathered just to serenade us. In the second park we walked around a small lake, where many fishermen caught small fish. We sat on a dinosaur. We enjoyed the setting sun. In the third park, next to footballers and basketballers and underage swingers, we played catch with a bottle of water, stroked a giant golden dog, and took this picture.
It was a great day. If you look closely, you can see how hungry we are - Ari is almost drooling. We left the park after the sun had gone down, and headed over to Kebun Siri. We ate nasi goreng (nasgor) and sate kambing. It was delicious, but oh-so-expensive. Eighty-thousand rupiah for two plates of nasgor and one plate of sate. I think the guy ripped us off. Maybe he was jealous because he hadn’t spent the day sitting on a toothless brontosaurus and listening to violin music, climbing trees and drop-kicking water bottles.
